Manchester City have always had squads big enough to compete on four fronts. The League Cup has been their forte in recent years because they have drawn drastically easier teams as compared to their PL rivals and have had a strong bench to field on the pitch. That may not be the case this year with a weaker squad depth.
Nevertheless, they are expected to easily swat away Wycombe Wanderers. They are currently in Football League 1, the third tier of English football.
For them, this would be a big occasion- taking on the Premier League champions in an Etihad, albeit one with a lot of empty seats. Their players would know that a positive result here would make them eternal heroes at their club.
